Well, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past twelve or so hours, it has been confirmed that Osama bin Laden is dead.

While this is indeed great news and worthy of a bit of a celebration, I do wonder what happens next. I mean, I doubt the war is gonna be over just like that. There are still other terrorist cells out there, not to mention the massive power vacuum that now exists within Al Queda. I don’t know how many lieutenants bin Laden had within his “organization” or not, but you can believe that he had a few co-leaders.

Plus, you know there is more than likely gonna be a fatwa of some sort as retaliation for us killing him. So, there’s that.

Despite all of this, I am glad there is definite movement forward in the terrorism fight. This is definitely a time to go down in the history books.

Hello everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend. I did. I didn’t step foot outside of my house the entire time though. Mostly because I was suffering from a headache and also due to being off kilter from the time change. So I stayed inside and watched some Harry Potter DVD’s.

I want to try to get some time off in April because my dad and step-mom et al are coming down for a little over a week and they want to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Perhaps I should tell them that it’s a small part of Universal Islands of Adventure and they have to go through the rest of the park to get to it. Maybe dad and I can ride the Hulk roller coaster again!

I have to figure out a way of getting there though because for one thing, my car is kinda iffy at the moment and I don’t trust driving it far out of town and two I’d have to go the freeway and that terrifies me (in addition to having a terrible sense of direction). And the last thing I need is a panic attack in the middle of traffic. The way I got back and forth to college was using the surface streets and luckily the way the school was situated, it was pretty easy to do that. The entire time I was there, I didn’t venture too far into the city to do stuff.

I need to go next weekend sometime and look for a dress for my friend’s wedding. I think I’ll look into Kohl’s since they have a lot of cute things there. Then I have to think about accessories and such. Maybe whatever I get can also double as an Easter dress.

Not much else to report on except for continued prayers and support for the people of Japan who are still suffering from the aftereffects of the major earthquake and tsunami that hit them on Friday. If you would like to donate, then it would be easiest (I think) to send them to the Red Cross. I know they are a legitimate organization to send any donations to. I already sent mine. It wasn’t much, but every little bit helps, I think.

Well, went to the doctor's today and picked up three prescriptions for two anti-anxiety meds and an anti inflammatory. The anti-inflammatory is for my tendinitis in my right foot. I also have medical permission to wear sneakers to work. Our dress code doesn't usually allow it, unless there is a doctor's note saying you can. However my doctor had the brilliant notion of only suggesting JUST for my right foot. He expects me to wear a sneaker on my right foot and a regular shoe on my left. No frickin' way. I'm not going to wear two different kinds of shoes and look like a total dumbass. Two sneakers, thank you. I'm not going to walk around looking like some moron who doesn't know how to dress themselves...

It's been a mite chilly here of late. Well, chilly for us any way. Mom is happy because we can comfortably open the windows and not run the A/C as much, which in turn saves power. However, it was slightly less than pleasant when we had a photo shoot for some friends of ours' engagement photos (which turned out fab, BTW). Plus, it was on the beach, which tends to be chillier than most other places due to no building blocking the wind. On top of that, we had to get up at the ass crack of dawn on Sunday in order to catch the sunrise. The pancakes afterward were worth it though.

Had a little incident with the cable modem last night. I was watching CSI and my picture went black. I initially thought it was a power hiccup (which has happened before), so I waited a few. Nothing. I checked the living room TV, and it still had a picture. Then I noticed the cable modem blinking erratically. Our digital phone was dead as well. I tried resetting the modem to no avail. By this time I had to go to bed, so I quit messing with it and did so. In the morning, I told mom what was going on and she had to call the cable company via her cell phone. I hate doing it myself because they have this stupid vocal phone menu that you have to use. For someone like me with a hoarse voice, it's torture.

The lady on the other end went through all sorts of steps in trying to get the cable box reset, but it was being stubborn and wouldn't do it. So they transferred her to another guy to try and work out the modem issue. He told her it might have something to do with the triple splitter we have connecting my computer and my television to the modem. But we couldn't wait around and find out since we both had to get ready for work. We decided to call back once we got home.

Turns out, we didn't have to bother. When I got home this evening, it was fixed. I don't know if it resolved itself or someone at the cable place did it remotely or not. But hey! I have my internet and television back! Yay!!!

Tomorrow we have people from the apartment complex doing an inspection of the appliances and such to make sure things are working as they should I guess, so mom is frantic trying to pick up the place a little. She doesn't want people to think we're slobs or anything. I somehow don't think they're going to care. Besides, we aren't. We're just lived in...

Well, a bit of a tale about our adventures tonight. Mom and I went to the storage place to add/remove some items, mostly for the church rummage sale. While we were finishing loading everything up, the power went out all of a sudden. We tried using the elevator. No chance. Soooo we had to haul the stuff we were bringing back down two flights of stairs, in the dark while it was inclement weather outside.

We get everything loaded up and drive to the front gate to discover that it wouldn’t open. Well, due to the power outage, this was to be expected. So we tried calling the toll free number for the company to see if maybe the manager or someone could come down and perhaps free up. They were no help whatsoever. Basically they said that once the manager leaves for the day that was pretty much it. So, yeah…

They pretty much told us that we could either a) find the “pedestrian gate” and leave our car there and come back for it in the morning. That wasn’t an option for us because it’s our only car, or call the police. You can guess which option we chose.

We had to call 911 because we didn’t have the non-emergency number. They were very nice to us and told us that they would contact someone to help us, but we might have to wait a while because of the storm front we had today.

Imagine our profound surprise when a black unmarked police cruiser pulled up and an officer emerged. Bless the local constabulary!! He assessed the situation and eventually jumped the gate and examined the motor. Apparently there’s a little door on the side of the motor housing which holds a small crank. Guess what that crank does? Well, when you place it in an opening on the side of the motor housing and turn it, it manually opens the gate! Imagine that!

Needless to say, we were somewhat embarrassed about the solution to our problem being such a simple thing. The officer was gracious about it though.

Our euphoric enjoyment of our freedom was marred by our cat making a mess in the apartment while we were away…

Well, the Barbie Dream House has been leased. Yesterday. I'm feeling kind of bummed. That loft was BEAUTIFUL. I was afraid of this...

Maybe this means there's something better on the horizon. I sure hope so, because I'm tired of getting let down all the time... It kinda sucks. A lot!

So, I'm a bit in the doldrums right now. I'm trying to be positive though. Trying to find ways of cheering myself up.

I did see Coraline earlier today though, before the bombed dropped. I enjoyed it. It definitely had some dark elements to it, but the animation was very beautiful and the 3D effects we really cool. More movies need to be made in 3D.

Tomorrow night is our "Girl's Night Out" to celebrate "Singles Awareness Day." Basically it's a bunch of us going out for drinks and commiserating over being single on a day made for happy couples. I think I'm feeling just cynical enough for it right now...

I'm getting kind of sick and tired of always getting fucked over!!! That's right! I'm goin' there! This incident happened with a bank and our apartment's leasing office.

We had sent our rent check in at the beginning of the month, like always. We discovered a few days ago, however that we were short and the bank sent the check back. Guess how much we were short by? Go ahead. Guess. Forty-five cents. Yes, that's right. FOURTY. FIVE.CENTS. $0.45. Zero point four five cents. Now beforehand, they'd still send the check though, even if we were off by more than that. Not this time!! And then, to make matters worse, our leasing office charged us $140 for a returned check fee. Now we have to pay $1012.50.

*HEADDESK*

That's it. I'm looking for another place to live. I saw just today, a 3 bedroom, 2 bath HOUSE for $750! That's over a hundred dollars less than what we're paying now for a cramped 2 bedroom one bath apartment. Our lease is up in May and we have to give them a 60 day notice, so we have at least until February/March to find something else. With the housing market the way it is, it shouldn't be too hard. I highly doubt things will change within the next few months.

I skipped WiiTennis today. I was too tired. I took a short nap (30 min), and I feel a bit more refreshed now.

Someone on [livejournal.com profile] fandom_secrets posted about disliking Ramos' art for Runaways and I must concur. No... just NO! His art is waaaay to stylized and cartoony for this series. His style is anime-like and not that I have anything against anime (I mean, come on), but it's just not right for this series. I mean, Molly looks about 5! *shudders*

And, in case you've been under a rock for the past 24 hours, Heath Ledger died yesterday. The autopsy was "inconclusive". I think it's due to an accidental overdose. I doubt he'd so something like commit suicide since he has a young daughter and he didn't seem the sort to just leave her like that. I guess we'll find out eventually.

And I've been scouring YouTube to try to find clips of Count Duckula. I used to watch that show all the time on Nickelodeon when I was a kid! Such memories... I think the first season is available on Amazon. Hmmm...

Every time I listen to this song, I think of the scene in 13 Going On 30 where everyone is doing the dance from the video. Hee hee... [livejournal.com profile] tenel_ka, you guys should TOTALLY do a version of this whenever you cosplay as the SW zombies. LOL!

And hey, when I was growing up, it was actually COOL to like MJ.

Today in History: Charles Curtis, of Kansas, began serving in the United States Senate. He was the first American Indian to become a U.S. Senator. He resigned in March of 1929 to become U.S. President Herbert Hoover’s Vice President.

This week has been... Okay. Some up and some downs. I can't really pinpoint it, exactly. Oh well.

About yesterday's post. I wasn't depressed or anything, just being somewhat anti-social. When I got home, I was just a mite irritable. Mom had a meeting at church, and I had to wait around until someone showed up because we always have to be early. Then, when I got home, I had to lug all her crap inside, as well as my own. Then, as soon as I came in the door, the attack began. My cats, who seemed to have thought they were wasting away, started laying into me, barely giving me a chance to set down all the stuff I lugged in. So, I was a bit cranky. Later on, mom and I got into a little dust-up over a misunderstanding (of course). I lost it and yelled at her, which is not something I tend to do. Things are fine now, but I guess it's just one of those things that tends to happen sometimes.

Dad said he thinks I may be showing some signs of Depression. While I appreciate his concern, it think it may be a little premature, if anything. I mean, I get into funks every now and then, but so do a lot of people. I mean, I've never had any suicidal tendencies or anything like that. I mean, I know people who have severe Depression and I know I don't have anything to that level. Besides, it's not as if I can afford to get therapy anyway.

This weekend is gonna be full again. Tomorrow I have errands to run, like getting a Baby Shower gift, a Secret Santa gift and perhaps some stamps. I also wanna do some window shopping at the mall perhaps. Then, we have a Christmas party to go to. Hopefully on Sunday afternoon, we can actually get our tree up before we have a Christmas play to attend.

We decorated our office area today. All of us have our own little area that we decorated and now it looks all festive. It's nice. I might take pictures.

Trivia of the day: It takes an average of 345 squirts to yield a gallon of milk from a cow's udder.
